1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old, or have the consent of a parent or legal guardian, to use the app. By using it, you represent that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate.
2. Licence to Use the App
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use the app for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, resell, scrape, or create derivative works from the app or its content except as expressly permitted by law — but you may share your own report or share-card through the app’s built-in sharing features.
3. Entertainment Only — No Professional Advice
The app provides traditional Chinese astrological calculations (BaZi / Four Pillars of Destiny) for entertainment, educational and cultural-interest purposes only. Its content does not constitute and must not be relied upon as medical, psychological, legal, financial, investment, career or relationship advice. You use the app, and act on its content, entirely at your own risk and responsibility. See our Disclaimer for further detail.
4. Accuracy and Methodology
Charts and readings are generated from traditional rules and astronomical approximations applied to the birth data you supply. We do not warrant that any result is accurate, complete or reliable, and we are not responsible for results affected by incorrect or incomplete data entered by you.
5. Your Account and Data
The app works without an account; your charts are stored on your own device. If you choose to enable optional cloud backup by signing in, the backup is stored in your own Google account (a hidden app-data folder in your Google Drive) and our servers never hold your charts. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your sign-in credentials and for all activity under your account. You must notify us promptly of any unauthorised use. 6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- use the app for any unlawful, infringing or fraudulent purpose;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the app, our systems, or another user’s data;
- interfere with, disrupt, or place undue load on the app or its infrastructure; or
- remove, obscure or alter any proprietary notices, including the names and mascot of Bilibala Shadowpaw Limited.
7. Intellectual Property
The app and all of its content, design, software, text, graphics, and the “ShadowBlack” mascot are owned by or licensed to Bilibala Shadowpaw Limited and are protected by intellectual-property laws. All rights not expressly granted to you are reserved. Third-party brand marks (such as the Threads logo) remain the property of their respective owners.
8. Third-Party Services
The app relies on third-party services, including Google Firebase (for optional sign-in and app hosting) and your own Google account (cloud backups are stored directly in your own Google Drive), as well as the Apple App Store / Google Play (for native distribution). Your use of those services is also subject to their own terms and privacy policies, over which we have no control.
9. Tips, Subscriptions, One-Time Reports and In-App Purchases
The app may offer an entirely optional “tip” (for example, “Buy us a coffee”). A tip purchases no additional functionality, content or services — it is simply a way to support continued development. On Android copies distributed through Google Play, tips are processed by Google Play Billing, and your use of Google Play and any purchase is also governed by the Google Play Terms of Service and Google’s payment and refund policies; on the web, tips are processed by our payment provider, Stripe. We never receive or store your card or payment details. Because tips are voluntary, they are non-refundable except as provided by the applicable platform’s refund policy or where required by law.
The analysis-report feature offers a subscription (Pro). Subscriptions are available on the web only, in US dollars, processed through Stripe’s hosted checkout page, and renew automatically (monthly or annually, per your chosen plan). You may cancel at any time via the in-app billing link (which opens the Stripe billing portal); after cancelling, you keep Pro features until the end of the paid period (Hong Kong time), and are not charged again. The daily report quotas included with each plan (for example, one per day on the free tier, twenty per day on Pro) may change from time to time, with notice of material changes. However, any reduction in quotas applies only to subscriptions started or renewed after the change — never to a period you have already paid for — and if we discontinue the analysis-report feature during a paid period, you will receive a pro-rata refund of the unused part of that period. Paid subscriptions are also governed by Stripe’s terms of service; except where required by law, used paid periods are non-refundable, and future periods are avoided simply by cancelling. Web subscription checkout is not offered inside the Android (Google Play) and iOS (App Store) app versions.
The two-year outlook (進階運程) is a one-time purchase, not a subscription, and does not renew. It is available on the web only, in US dollars, processed through Stripe’s hosted checkout page. Each purchase unlocks one birth chart for one two-year edition (an edition covers two consecutive Chinese solar years, each beginning at Lichun; the edition on offer moves to the next one every 1 December) and is tied to your account. Holders of an active Pro annual pass may generate the current edition for any chart during the paid period at no extra charge. The first single-report purchase on your account may be offered at a reduced introductory price (currently 90% off), once per account, for single reports only, and not combinable with other offers. The outlook is generated as soon as payment is confirmed and is delivered as digital content; by purchasing you ask us to begin supply immediately and, except where required by law, it is non-refundable once generated. If payment succeeds but the outlook cannot be generated, we will generate it again for you or refund you. A chart and edition that are already unlocked are not charged twice. Unlock records are kept against your account; if you close your account they are deleted and cannot be restored, although reports already saved on your device remain there. Web checkout is not offered inside the Android (Google Play) and iOS (App Store) app versions, but content you unlock on the web is available in the apps on the same account. The ratings in an outlook are this app’s own relative indicators and are not predictions (see the Disclaimer).
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
The app is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, or accuracy and reliability of content. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Bilibala Shadowpaw Limited and its directors, employees, agents and partners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or opportunity, arising out of or in connection with your use of (or inability to use) the app, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Where liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability to you for all claims relating to the app shall not exceed HK$100, or the amount (if any) you paid us in the twelve (12) months before the claim, whichever is greater. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded (such as for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud).
Where the app is supplied to you as a consumer and we breach an implied term that the service will be carried out with reasonable care and skill, our liability for that breach is limited, at our option, to resupplying the service, or paying the cost of having the service supplied again.
12. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Bilibala Shadowpaw Limited and its personnel from any claims, losses, liabilities and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the app or your breach of these Terms.
13. Changes to the App and These Terms
We may modify or discontinue the app, or any feature, at any time. We may also update these Terms; when we do, we will revise the version and date above and, where the changes are material, seek your acceptance again. Your continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
14. Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the app (or to cloud backup) if you breach these Terms or use the app in a way that may cause harm or legal liability. You may stop using the app at any time and delete your local and backed-up data.
15. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. You agree to submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Hong Kong courts.
16. General
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect. Our failure to enforce a right is not a waiver of it. These Terms, together with the Disclaimer and Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the app. The English version of these Terms prevails over any translation.
